Japanese Thermal Straightening — also called thermal reconditioning — permanently restructures the bonds inside your hair. Unlike a keratin treatment, which coats and smooths temporarily, JTS changes the hair itself. The hair we treat stays straight until it grows out.
We are certified by Milbon of NYC and have performed this service for years. It is genuinely difficult to do well, which is why very few salons in the Tampa area offer it at all.
If you have spent years fighting frizz through Florida humidity, blow-drying for an hour before work, or wondering whether your hair will hold any style past ten in the morning — this is the service that ends that.
Who it’s for
- Naturally curly, coarse or thick hair that resists straightening
- Hair that frizzes in humidity no matter what products you use
- Anyone spending 30+ minutes a day on heat styling
- Clients who want to stop maintaining and start waking up ready
Who it isn’t for
We’d rather tell you now than halfway through.
- Heavily bleached or highlighted hair JTS on compromised hair risks serious damage. We may recommend a strengthening plan first, or decline.
- Anyone planning to go significantly lighter soon Sequence matters. Talk to us before you colour.
- Previously relaxed hair Chemical relaxers and JTS do not layer safely.
- Anyone wanting to keep some wave JTS is straight. Fully straight. If you want texture loosened rather than eliminated, ask about keratin smoothing instead.

- Sleep with it loose and straight
- No braids, no buns, no ponytails
Any bend set into the hair during this window can become permanent. We send you home with written instructions.

Who performs this
Questions
How is this different from a keratin treatment?
Keratin coats the hair and washes out over two to four months. JTS permanently restructures the internal bonds — treated hair stays straight until it grows out. Keratin loosens texture; JTS eliminates it.
Will it damage my hair?
Performed correctly on healthy hair, no. Performed on already-compromised hair, it can. That is the reason for the mandatory consultation, and the reason we sometimes say no.
Can I colour my hair too?
Yes, but sequencing and spacing matter. Bring your colour plans to the consultation so we can order the work properly.
How long until I need a touch-up?
The treated hair stays straight permanently. You will see new growth at the root in roughly six to nine months. [CONFIRM]
Can I still curl it?
Yes, with a curling iron. It will not hold as long as untreated hair, and it releases after washing.
What if I hate it?
It cannot be reversed. That is precisely why the consultation is free, mandatory and honest.
Let’s talk about your hair first
Consultations are free and always come before the service. You’ll leave knowing the plan, the timing, and the cost.
