Tangle Me Knot has served Apollo Beach and the South Shore for over ten years. Seven people behind the chair, most with twenty to thirty years each, and three of them working as educators in the industry.
How we got here
Charlene Cooner began her career in Palm Beach, apprenticing under some of the best stylists in the area before opening her first salon. Thirty years on, she leads Tangle Me Knot as owner and Artistic Director — Schwarzkopf Professional Certified, and Master Certified in colour formulation and correction, styling, Japanese Thermal Straightening, keratin smoothing and hair extensions.
The team she has built reaches further than Apollo Beach. Paul came from the San Francisco Bay Area and has spent much of his 22 years teaching cutting as well as performing it. Angelica emigrated from the Dominican Republic and built a thirty-year career in New York. Jaclyn trained in Massachusetts and co-owned a salon with her mother before joining us. Jackie has spent 25 years becoming a Master Colorist. Emily started here at the front desk, trained up, and is now our licensed esthetician.
That range is the point. Different training, different backgrounds, different specialities — which means that whatever walks through the door, someone here has done it before.
How we work
You’re a client of the salon, not of one chair.
Most salons quietly discourage you from seeing anyone but your stylist. We do the opposite, and it changes the experience in three specific ways.
Try whoever you like
If someone else on the team is a better fit for what you want — curls, correction, extensions, skin — we’ll say so and hand you over. Nobody here is protecting a client list.
Nobody waits alone
If your stylist runs behind, another team member steps in. Your colour gets checked, your questions get answered, your coffee gets topped up. It isn’t one person’s job to look after you.
Booking stays possible
You’re never stuck waiting six weeks because one person is full. If you need an appointment and your usual stylist can’t take it, someone who knows your hair can.

Charlene is the owner and Schwarzkopf Professional Certified Master Colorist/Stylist here at Tangle Me Knot. Charlene leads our team of professionals as the overall Artistic Director, providing an industry focused approach to our education, hair service and client experience which has garnered both her previous salon and TMK several awards! Prior to relocating here in Apollo Beach, Charlene began her 30 years in the industry in Palm Beach, FL. Charlene apprenticed with some of the top local stylist prior to opening her first successful salon. In her career, Charlene has been Master Certified in color (formulation, application, color-correction), styling, Japanese Thermal Straightening, Keratin Smoothing, and hair extensions (tape, I-Tip, and fusion applications). Originally from the San Francisco Bay area, Paul has been actively working both behind the chair as well as in educational roles for the past 22 years. To quote “Experience is everything!” as Paul likes to shine with an abundance of knowledge with all hair types. Color is his passion but also excels in precision hair cutting/styling and is our curly hair specialist. Having apprenticed under several master stylists, Paul has called TMK his home for the past 7 years.
With over 25 years of experience with exceptional color, cutting and styling techniques. Jackie is a Master Colorist who provides amazing color-melting, Balayage, and custom color creations! Jackie’s attention to detail with both men’s and women’s cuts is impeccable. Ladies, from funky to functional, daring to dashing, Jackie will help you accentuate your beauty while keeping you fashion-forward. With over 30 years’ experience, Angelica brings extensive knowledge and application to TMK. Emigrating from the Dominican Republic, Angelica spent the majority of her career in NYC where she learned and honed her craft. Specializing in highlights and balayage, Angelica also has a wealth of experience in haircuts for both straight and curly hair as well as all of our specialized services offered here at TMK.
From Port Charlotte, FL, Kat brings southwest FL vibes to our South Shore area! Kat has been in the industry for over 14 years and is one of our curly hair specialist and a lived in color enthusiast. Staying up to date with current and latest trends, Kat is certified in all of our Keratin Smoothing, K-18 and Brazilian Blowout services.
Graduating with honors as well as being inducted into the 2024 National Honor Society, Emily is our resident Esthetician and Makeup Artist here at TMK! Emily has been here with us since our origins, working behind the desk and learning the industry. Her vast and growing knowledge of skin types, conditions and skin care ingredients combine to allow Emily to deliver you the recommended services and provide you personalized at-home care recommendations for your specific needs.
Behind the scenes, and sometimes in front of the camera, you’ve probably seen Scott. Coming from a distinguished career as a Fire Chief with the US government, Scott brings a decidedly customer front and center approach to our day-to-day operations. Believing “Client is King”, Scott has helped to brand Tangle Me Knot as the place to get your hair done with a customer service experience unparalleled in the beauty industry. Scott is also our ever present face on social media, highlighting the many styles we produce, trends we love, and camaraderie we share during our team building events. So if you see him out and about, in person or on line, feel free to say “hi”; just don’t ask him to do your hair!
